When each case is used
Upper and lower case are for emphasis and consistency, title case for headlines, sentence case for normal writing, and camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case for variable names, database columns and web addresses.
Worked example
The phrase "the lord of the rings" becomes "The Lord of the Rings" in title case, "TheLordOfTheRings" in PascalCase, "the_lord_of_the_rings" in snake_case and "the-lord-of-the-rings" in kebab-case.
Tips
Check proper nouns and acronyms after converting, because converting to lower case or title case cannot tell that "NASA" or "iPhone" should keep its shape.
Frequently asked questions about the Text Case Converter
How do I change text to uppercase or lowercase?
+
Paste your text and choose UPPER CASE or lower case. The result appears straight away, and you can copy it with one click. You can also pick other styles, such as Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase or snake_case, from the same list.
What is the difference between title case and capitalised words?
+
Title case keeps small words like "of", "the" and "and" in lower case, except at the start and end. Capitalised Each Word capitalises every word.
What are camelCase, snake_case and kebab-case?
+
They are naming styles used in programming: camelCase joins words with each later word capitalised, snake_case uses underscores and kebab-case uses hyphens.
Does it work with Hindi and accented letters?
+
Yes. Letters and digits from any script are recognised, and scripts without upper and lower case, such as Devanagari, are left unchanged.
Is my text sent to a server?
+
No. The conversion happens in your browser, so your text is never sent to or stored on our servers. Very long text is cut at 200,000 characters so the page stays responsive, and the tool tells you when that limit has been reached.
Can I convert text several times?
+
Yes. Use "Use result as input" to make the converted text your new input, then choose another case. This is handy when you want, for example, to turn a sentence into Title Case first and then into a kebab-case web address.
