How to Choose a Website Development Company in Bengaluru: 10 Questions to Ask Before You Hire

Hiring a website company in Bengaluru is easier when you know what to ask. Ten practical questions about scope, ownership, speed, SEO, support and price, with the answers to look for.

Three printed proposals fanned out on a wooden meeting table beside two steel tumblers of tea and two pens.

Bengaluru has many web design and development companies, from one-person studios to large agencies. They all say they build fast, modern, SEO-friendly websites. This guide gives you ten questions that help you tell them apart, so you can choose a website development company in Bengaluru based on facts and not on a good sales call.

Before you start asking

Write one page that says what you need: the type of business, the pages you expect, the features you want (a contact form, bookings, payments, a blog), and what the website must achieve, such as more enquiries or online orders. Send the same page to every company. Their answers will then be about the same job, and the quotes can be compared.

1. Can I see websites you built, live?

Pictures in a portfolio are easy to polish. A live website is harder to fake. Ask for links, open them on your phone, and check how fast they load, whether the text is easy to read, and whether the forms work. Ask which part of each project the company did, because some portfolios show work done by a whole team or by someone who has left.

2. What exactly is included in the price?

Ask for the list: number of pages, design rounds, mobile layout, forms, a blog, basic SEO setup, speed work, hosting set-up and testing. A price without a list can hide extras that are charged later. If a company will not write down what is included, treat that as a warning.

3. Who owns the website when it is finished?

You should own the domain name, the code, the design files and the content. The domain should be registered in your name, not the company's. Ask for this to be written in the agreement. Some companies keep the code or host the site in a way that makes it hard to leave, which is a problem if you later want to change provider.

4. How will the website perform on a phone?

Many visitors to business websites arrive on a phone, often on a mobile connection. Ask how the company checks speed and what scores they aim for. A reasonable answer mentions Google's Core Web Vitals and testing on real phones. You can also test any site yourself with our free website health check, which scores speed, SEO, security and accessibility.

5. What SEO work is part of the build?

Basic SEO should be part of a website build, not an optional extra: a clean page structure, one clear heading per page, page titles and descriptions, image descriptions, a sitemap, and pages that load quickly. Ask who writes the titles and descriptions. Our free meta tag generator shows what good ones look like, and the social preview checker shows how a page appears when it is shared. Be careful with anyone who promises a ranking position, because nobody controls Google.

6. How do you manage the project and talk to me?

Ask who your contact is, how often you will get updates, and how feedback is collected. A simple plan is a dated timeline, one named person, and a shared place to review pages before launch. Slow, unclear answers before you sign are usually slower after you pay.

7. What happens after the website goes live?

A website needs hosting, security updates, backups and small changes. Ask what support is included at launch and for how long, what a maintenance plan costs, and who responds when the site goes down. At Gopafy, ongoing support is offered as Website Care plans that start from ₹9,000 a month, and you can read what each plan covers before you decide.

8. How do you handle images, content and text?

Large images are one of the most common reasons a site is slow. Ask whether the company compresses images and writes useful descriptions for them. If you will provide the text, ask for a content deadline. If the company writes it, ask for a sample. You can shrink your own photos with the free image compressor before you send them.

9. What technology will you use, and why?

You do not need to understand every tool, but the answer should make sense to you and match your needs. A simple site may be fine on a ready-made system. A site with logins, bookings, payments or custom dashboards usually needs custom development. Ask what happens if you want to add a feature later, and whether another developer could take over the code.

10. What is the total price, and when do I pay?

Ask for the full price in writing, the payment stages (for example at the start, after the design, and at launch), and what extra work costs. A fair payment plan ties each payment to something you can see. The lowest quote is not always the cheapest: a very low price often leaves out testing, speed work or support, and the cost returns later. Our guide to website development costs in India explains the typical ranges and what drives them. For reference, Gopafy website projects start from ₹30,000, and the final price depends on your requirements.

A simple way to compare your shortlist

  1. Send the same one-page brief to two or three companies.
  2. Ask each to answer the ten questions above in writing.
  3. Open two live websites from each company on your phone.
  4. Compare scope, ownership, speed, SEO, support and payment stages side by side.
  5. Choose the company that was clearest and most honest, not only the cheapest.

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose a website development company in Bengaluru?

Shortlist two or three companies, ask each to quote the same scope, and compare them on the work they have built, who owns the code and content, what is included for speed and SEO, the support after launch, and how clearly they communicate. Price matters, but only after the scope is the same.

Should I pick a company in my own city?

It helps if you want to meet in person, but it is not required. Most of the work happens online. What matters more is that the company answers quickly, shows real examples and explains things in plain language. A Bengaluru address is useful for visits and for local understanding of the market.

What should a website quote include?

A good quote lists the pages and features, the design approach, the technology, the timeline, the payment stages, what happens after launch, and what is not included. If a quote is one line with a single price, ask for the details before you agree.

Who should own my website?

You should. The domain should be registered in your name, and the contract should say that you receive the code, design files and content when the project is paid for. Ask about this before you start, because it is hard to fix later.

How long does a website project take?

A simple business website often takes a few weeks and a larger site with custom features takes longer. The biggest delays usually come from content and feedback arriving late, so prepare your text, photos and decisions early. Ask the company for a dated plan.

What does a website cost at Gopafy?

Gopafy website projects start from ₹30,000. The final price depends on your requirements, such as the number of pages, the design, features like bookings or payments, and integrations. We give a written quote after we understand what you need.
